Christian Fellowship
Copied from the Pathway of truth, September 1984. A reprint from December 1967 issue

There is a vast difference between Friendship and Christian fellowship. Friendship is often mistaken for Christian fellowship. Friendship is often had, and even enjoyed by those who have no real confidence in each other. Whether it be a Church, or Socially, Commercially, Politically, and many other areas of human activities.

Christian Fellowship is based upon a Sacred Love and Confidence, of which the alien world cannot understand. This Love and confidence, is what binds the Children of God together in a Church capacity. When this Love and confidence is destroyed, Christian Fellowship ceases to exist. To have membership in the Church is one thing, but to have the fellowship of the church is another thing.

A man may have fellowship for the Church, and at the same time the Church may not have fellowship for him. When the life and conduct of anyone is such, that the other members cannot endorse, sanction, approve and bid them God-speed, they have lost the fellowship of the Church. They may have their friendship, but not Christian Fellowship. Some persons perhaps, have a wonderful personality and may be very likeable in a natural way, but where that Sacred Confidence is lacking, there is no Christian fellowship.

For a member, or the entire Church to be in fellowship with Christ and the Apostles, they must be in Harmony and agreement with them in doctrine, practice and discipline. How can two walk together, except they be agreed; When a Sacred trust is broken, confidence is destroyed. When the Church calls a Pastor, they should have this Sacred Confidence, that he will be an example to the Flock, and have a Moral and sober influence upon the young and old. We cannot have the fellowship of the Church, if we do not obey the Laws of Christ. Neither if we live in such things, that will bring Shame and reproach upon the Church.

The members of the Church, should esteem this Christian fellowship, above everything else in the world. And live in such a way, as to not destroy this confidence and Love, which is most Sacred in the Church of our Lord Jesus Christ. C. M. Mills (Deceased)
