Profitable

"For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation. For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe. These things command and teach." 1 Tim. 4:8-11

Gainful employment requires sacrifice. Many mothers and father can't see their children as much as they would like to because they must work to support their children. When parents are at work they are absent from their homes and children.

Let's remember that these realities came into this world because one man was not satisfied to dress and keep the garden of God.  It is because Adam exercised his free will that men by the sweat of their faces eat bread until they return unto the ground. This laborious lifestyle was not what God purposed for man. Adam chose an "alternative lifestyle" that didn't conform to the word of God.

Politicians have ignored the word of God. They believe they have found a better way, another way other than that which is in the Scripture that says,  "if any would not work, neither should he eat." Today many are learning to profit without working at all. This fosters ingrates and unprofitable servants of the state. These trust in the government to supply all their wants and needs knowing the government is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that they ask or think, according to those that work for a living.

Let the true Church of the living God continue to labour on in this world. Let Her hold out against worldliness and the wisdom of this world. Let the old Church continue to prefer the wisdom that cometh from above. Though She may suffer from the darts and ridicule of the world for contending for the faith, that is no reason not to trust in the one true and living God. It is our Saviour that gave us life and that more abundantly. He has given us the promises and the desire to live godly in this present evil world. There is no more profitable employment in this world than to be found exercising godliness. It is the only way to serve God. 5/10/2005 Elder M. Hoogasian
