"I remember that when I first united with the Primitive Baptist Church I understood little about the principles and practices of the church. But I soon learned that even if I did not understand why Old Baptists did the things that they did that if I would abide my time I would soon find out that they had a very good reason for the things that they practiced, and for me to assume I had found a scripture that put them at fault was risky and most always as time went on, my position would become untenable.
Now after about forty-two years of observing the problems that have arisen in the church I am more convinced than ever that most problems could have been avoided if people had not acted hasty on positions they thought they understood and set out to change the "traditions" that they thought the church was practicing."
