THE VISION OF ALL
Elder Marty Hoogasian
"And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed: And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned. (Isaiah 29:11&12)
I have heard that water swirls clockwise, as do hurricanes and tornadoes in the Southern Hemisphere. Do the waters and the winds know in what hemisphere they are found? I wonder which way these would turn when they are found on the equator. If I were to find out the answer to this question would it be to my advantage? Would I be edified? What does such knowledge add to a man? I have no need to make an ark, but if I wanted to know how to make one I could find out by reading about it in the Scriptures. If one truly wants to know how this earth began he need not look through the tomes of the science libraries. That one could open and read the first few pages of the Bible. "The vision of all" is what the Scriptures are called in Isaiah. 29. I have never seen the Grand Canyon. I have never gone into space nor have I been to the depths of the sea. But by grace I have seen many more beautiful sights and far more heavenly vistas when blessed to read and understand from "the vision of all".
But alas, the vision of all is become unto man another book on the shelf. Few men are inclined to look between those lids for answers. On the spine of the Bible we see no author's name. Men have tried to revise it and amplify it and make it new aiming it all nations. All these men have managed to do is to fail miserably at trying to pervert the word of God. What would possess men to try to change the Bible? I suppose they could then copyright it and make money from it. Regardless how often the exhortation is made to read the Scriptures some seem to come up with only excuses why they either ought not to read them or assert that they cannot read them. No other book contains more benefits than the Scriptures. The Bible gives sound instruction to those that sincerely seek answers.
Perhaps scientists will one day understand the design of the water and the whirlwind's spinning. Our Lord says "When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord: They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof (Proverbs 1:27-30). Our Lord asked time and time again this question: Have ye not read? Surely there must be great benefit from reading the vision of all, especially to those that are loved of the Lord. 2/17/2005 Elder Marty Hoogasian
