THE WORLD AND ELECTION
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves
Ever so often the world has what they call elections. But unlike God who engaged in election once before time began; sinful man has occasions to elect someone of their liking to certain positions; not once and forever, but rather ever so often. Man's decisions regarding election and God's vastly differ. There is none like God declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done. The candidate that most successfully persuades their constituents that he will be their advocate to represent them and defend the greater good usually attains to such elected offices. How shall the constituents hear unless the messages are sent? How shall the messages be sent unless it is propelled by money? Money seems to have a way of making room for a man and bringing him before great men of this world. Voters cast their ballots in hope that their chosen one shall not forget them and that he shall continue to represent them. Man's choice doesn't make the one elected righteous, holy, without blame, or unreproveable.
Man left to his own weaknesses will invariably choose wrongly. He tends to chose those like himself, one to whom he can relate. Adam is a good example of choosing wrongly. Cain is another good example of poor decision making. Even Noah after finding grace in the eyes of God and witnessing the wrath of God is found choosing drunkenness by wine. We can follow the path of poor choices all the way up to the madding crowd who chose Barabbas over our Lord Jesus Christ.
Yet there are still some that think that if they could only get enough filthy lucre that they could evangelize the whole world and fill heaven with their converts. These are they that have unconsciously made money their God. These are they that think it takes money to get the message of the goodness of God out to all the world. These are they that must conjecture that the only reason man wouldn't chose God is because man hasn't been afforded the privilege of having a missionary bring Jesus. They believe that the missionary calls men. These are they that must fail at rightly dividing the word of truth which says "the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth". These that glorify money and not the God of all grace are not approved of God. These prefer their own works to being a workman studying the word of God. These are those that shall be made ashamed. The message of election is the furthest thing from them. If election is far from them, then so is grace. Yet they say that they must go to the end of the world and preach the gospel. What gospel? It certainly isn't what we have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God (Acts 20:24). 10/5/2004 Marty Hoogasian
