Purple Iris

Our great Example

He opened not his mouth
When slandered and reviled,
So should not each of us
Who claim to be His child,
Be slow to answer scorn for scorn,
But let His grace our speech adorn.

He opened oft His mouth
Whenever there was need
To teach His righteous Way,
That we might hear and heed;
So let us choose our words with care
And seek from malice to forbear.
