Boast Not Thyself

"Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day my bring forth. Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips." Proverbs 27:1-2

In the latter part of my work career I encountered teachings by my company that was in direct opposition to the word of God. Indeed the influence of the world such as: womans liberation, civil rights, social training and many other such things pressures the God fearing person to abandon the simple teachings of the scriptures for man made idols.

Such notions as: be assertive, promote yourself, strive for wealth and/or recognition ,demand group rights all reject the simple teaching that "The hold duty of man is to fear God and keep his commandments" Ungodly leaders have used the civil rights movement to promote sinful conduct culminating in the false idea that Sodomy is a civil right.

In one of my social skills training sessions I was presented with the 'Platinum Rule'. It taught us how we were to be tolerant of all people, societies and cultures. I'm convinced that their intention was to have us be tolerant of every thing but Christianity! The simple scriptural teaching of "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them; for this is the law and the prophets." can not be improved upon. (Matthew 7:12)

We should be honest and forthright in our dealings out in the world but never be tolerant of godless behavior. We should never be loose with our tongue! But weight our speech as becoming to a disciple of Christ. " But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay; for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil." (Matthew 5:37) Elder Claude McKee
